“The pearl is the queen of gems and the gem of queens.”

More Simple Tips for Buying Pearls

- When distinguishing between fake and real freshwater pearls, you could just look at the shape. Pearls, even the cultured ones, are naturally produced inside the bodies of mollusks. Thus, it is impossible to find perfectly round freshwater or any type of pearls. If the one you are holding has a perfect symmetry and shape, it definitely is a fake.

- Natural fresh water pearls usually come either in coral, peach, pink, ivory and white colors. However, some cultured pearls are colored using special laser-dye technology that is widely used in giving colors to pearls in China and in Hong Kong.

- Take the teeth test. To do so, simply scrap the surface of the freshwater pearl to the edge of your teeth. If doing so gives out a gritty feeling, the pearl is genuine. If its is slippery and smooth, it is a fake. Warnings, before doing the test, ask the store personnel first.

Freshwater pearls are naturally costly. That is because they have superior quality. Expect that the price tags for such jewelries would be costly. But for sure, the investment would all be worth it.
